WELCOME!

Kia ora! My name is Sophia Tsang. I am passionate about mathematics and science education, which is a common theme through all of my work (even when it's not obvious!).

As a community engagement specialist at GNS Science, I lead the Science to Practice workstream of the Rapid Characterisation of Earthquakes and Tsunami (RCET) research programme in addition to co-leading Soilsafe Kids. You can also find me supporting scientists in developing educational engagement workshops and teaching materials based on their research or supporting teachers to bring more science and mathematics into their classrooms.

I am also slowly continuing to build on the lava flow hazard work I started during my PhD from the University of Auckland (Auckland, New Zealand) which investigated the impacts of lava flows on inhabited areas.

This website is a work in progress, but please feel free to explore or reach out for more information!
